Quick 50th Birtday Card (in Anna Griffin Style)

A real quick post on a 50th birthday Card I did for a dear friend.    So I had been thinking about the card I wanted to make her for over a wee, but kept getting busy and putting it off.  I woke-up the morning I was to meet her for her birthday lunch in a panic - I hadn't made her card yet and I still had to go to a doctors appointment.

Well Thank goodness (and God) for all the beautiful Anna Griffin supplies I have.  I was able to put the this card together before my appointment and still meet my friend for lunch on time.

You can see below that I used shiny gold metallic cardstock for an appropriate 50th celebration!

Last of my Spooky Kooky - Wonderfully Wicked And Beautifully Bewitching... Wacky Witch Hats! (last 2 of 5)

Okay - Spooky Kooky Witch Kaps - I am trying to gets some "Ks" in there for a Name Game Challenge over at the Cut it Up Blog.

Purple in basic color for the last two hats.
Lots of Knurlier on these two -- how is the for "K" items -  good word!

First I have a Mardi Gars hat in the traditional colors of purple and green, complete with a Mardi Gars mascaraed mask.

To make it more "Halloweenie"  I added spiders and the words spooky (From Ann Griffin's Seasonal Dies) - in purple and green glitter paper of course.    The dies cut and Emboss - Had to mention that for the Emboss it challenge over at the Fabulous Cricut Blog

I glued a big glitzy garland around the brim with a metallic Kurly -Q  ribbon adorned to the top.

I didn't make the mask - it was in my stash from a few years ago

And finished with a big flamboyant purple bow on the top and a pom-pom made from the garland. Not sure if you could see but I also have one of those wobbly spiders on the top.

I can't decide if this is my favorite of the 5
My last one is very adorned as well with the statement being the big purple mesh bow with all the black roses (CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge ) and glittery bat.  My roses are inked with Studio G pinkish purple chalk ink around the edges and each has a shiny round metallic gem the center.

I've used Silver glitter paper to cut stars. Big ones are again from the Anna Griffin seasonal dies, I also used her feather from the same set (can't see it as part of the plum on the other side, but you can see here that I added the 'in" part of the feather (cut out part) here as added bling).  The little stars are from a Hot off the press set.

I have more little critters hidden - a silver beetle is caught in the web (Cricut/Provo craft die) on the far side and a little gem spider hangs from a shimmering star.   I have a few glow in the dark spiders including one under the rim that viewers can see as you wear the bonnet. And of course this one has the wobbly glitter spider on the very tip top as well.

Note:  I added cardstock inside the hats to keep them pointy and upright (needed it).  I did that for all five hats.

More Wonderfully Wicked And Beautifully Bewitching... Wacky Witch Hats! (2nd & 3rd of 5)

I have 2 more witch hats (of 5) to share....

For my 2nd and 3rd hats I stared with basic Black and Orange witch hats from the dollar store.

I put a sheer orange ribbon under  the base of one hat with a black and white stitched ribbon and on the other an orange boa.

They each have the wobbly spider on the tip with bows. those spiders wiggle while you walk (or ride as witches do)

They each have décor sticks I spray-pained orange (over spray got on the driveway and my DH scrubbed it up for me) .

More Black Roses -  Again I used the CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge for the 3D flowers.  On the top one I edged them with orange neon for a nice little spooky rose garden.
And the glow in the dark spiders for each (even under the rim that show when you have the hats on- Yieks!

For the "BOO"  I have a base of Jumbo Polka Flowers from  one set in Orange and the other in Black. On top of that I used an ornamental lace die in black, then a scalloped circle in orange glitter paper.  The "BOO" letters and design base with cut in  Cricut Design Space using a cut included with Circuit Access - from Home for the Holidays - Fall & Winter set. On the letter part of each, I used a clear sparkle pen.

They each have bows up the back side - princess witches I dare say!  Love the Polka-dot ribbon (from the dollar store)!

Now that's a good Diva Hat -don't ya think?

Which Witch do you prefer?  Love the comments, and please subscribe if you'd like to see more of my scraps come to life.

Wonderfully Wicked And Beautifully Bewitching... Wacky Witch Hats! (1st of 5)

Last week I made a post about "spending too much money and time on shopping for craft supplies", (yes that is a thing - to much craft supplies), in which I vowed not to spend money on (or shop for) any more supplies until 4 October.  I'll have to end my vow by the 5th October because that is when Anna Griffin's new releases will be on HSN (Can't miss that!).

Anyhow,  It is amazing how much crafting you can get done when you aren't shopping (AKA surfing the internet).  Witch leads me into my latest projects......  Wonderfully Wicked Witch Hats!

I have made five hats to share this week.

My first hat is semi-spooky with it's black tattered shall netting cover, but ends up being wickedly beautiful.

A Garden of Black and Silver Roses

For this hat (as well as three others) I used the 3D Flower (rose) from CTMH's Art Philosophy Cartridge.  I did these all in black hoping to make it more spooky but they just came out too pretty especially with the silver brilliance inked outer edges.   To  elegant to be completely spooky (unless spiders freak you out ).

I have spiders on all the hats.  The lovely glittery spiders that wobble and bobble perch on the very tip of all the hats (just a hint of creepy).

I wrapped a polka-doted ribbon all the way up and around the rim.  Added a few more flashy picks, glow in the dark spiders, a few bats and a big bow on the back and - voila  - my first Wonderfully Wicked And Beautifully Bewitching Wacky Witch Hat!

Supplies:

Glue gun with lots and lots of hot glue ($2)
Base witch hat $1 (Dollar Tree)
Gaze black meshed shall thingy $1 (Dollar Tree)
Bats (set of 2) 2 sets - $1 per set (Dollar Tree)
Big bow $1 (dollar tree)
Flashy silver circle picks (had on hand from years past)
Polka-dot Ribbon -$3.99 (Michael's)
Glitter spider on tip $3.99 - 40% (Pick with 6 spiders from Michael's)

Challenges:

Little Scraps and Piece (Show it off Saturday Linky Party) (closes 17 Sep)
Joe's Scrap Shack (Anything Goes #156) (closes 23 Sep)
DL.ART Thankful Thursday (Gardens #188) (closes 21 Sep)

Crafting Supply Addiction Anyone?

Craft supply addiction --

Just wondering if anyone else has a crafting supply addiction or am I the only one?  I am not putting my family in debt or anything but …what constitutes ”too much” or is that even a thing?  If I feel guilty, dose that make it “bad or wrong”?  If I don’t spend more than my “allowance” is that okay?  If I spend more time surfing for craft supplies than I actually do crafting – is that a shopping addiction.  Do I need help or am I perfectly normal?   I really would like to spend more time crafting than shopping – I hate to shop (okay, I might be a little kooky with that one, but it is true).  Shopping gives me knots in my stomach.  Receiving things in the mail that I forgot I ordered, that’s exciting.  Hoping no one else is home when the postal person rings the door bell (to hide my addiction) – there I said it, it is an addiction isn’t it?).  Well, they say admitting the problem is the first step to a cure – one step toward healing.

Anyone else feel this way? (Hint:   I am looking for belongingness here.  Please comment below – I would love to hear what others have to say, feel, or are going thru relating to their crafting addictions.  (and wondering if anyone actually reads my blog).

Let’s get something done today, but first, let me go see if anything is on sale at……

As always, God bless and happy scrapping!
